For the success of any blog, user feedback is highly important. The comments and opinion that readers leave back on the website not only tell the blogger about where he lacks and how he can enhance his readership but also acts like a guiding stone for new readers who visit the blog for the first time.
Earlier we discussed managing comment moderation . I soon learnt the reason why Bloggers take user comments so seriously and moderate them in almost real-time. In my opinion, the reasons are as follows.
Feedback is Necessary
Just like we answer exams at school, similarly the readers tell the blogger indirectly through their comments how they like or dislike the post. It tells the writer if he’s going on the right track or what changes he needs to incorporate to achieve his goal of creating a perfect blog.
Constructive Criticism
Be it a negative comment or a complaint, trust me, it does help the blog to flourish better. This is one thing that i found prominent on Harsh’ blogs. He never deletes any comments from anybody no matter how negative the feedback might be. And it is a very good virtue. It tells the readers that their opinion is respected and they have a say too. This goes a long way in gaining loyal readers for one’s blog.
Pointing Errors
No one is infallible. Everyone makes mistakes. So often our readers help us pinpoint errors in the text. Be it a typo or a factual mistake. An ideal blogger should be more than welcome towards readers who help him pinpoint these errors.
Induce healthy Debates
More than often something good turns out of healthy debating between the readers and the author. For, topics raising questions, example, the introduction of a new technology and its feasibility. When everyone shares their opinion we get to learn points which we might have easily overlooked. So here everyone stands to gain, not just the blogger alone.
So Go ahead and embrace all that comes from your reader community and do share your take on the value of comments with us. And if you feel there are more advantages feel free to help us further add it on to the list.
